This Kitchen Remodeling project is a prime example of why it is so important to understand that sometimes when a construction company comes in to bid a job or plan out a remodeling project, there are elements beyond our control that can affect price and completion. The end result of this kitchen remodel was beautiful, but the path to get there was not at all what we expected.

This was the BEFORE…

BEHIND THE WALLS

We started the project and demo day arrived. It was supposed to be an easy remodel, but we opened up a can of worms with a completely rotten wall that we discovered was previously the EXTERIOR of the house many many years ago! The discovery we made took the project down an unexpected path.

NEW WALL 

We ended up having to rebuild an entire load bearing wall before we could finish out the new kitchen.

COMPLETED

Even rebuilding the completely rotten wall, this was a 13 day kitchen renovation start to finish.

For any remodeling job you want to do, the best you can do as a homeowner is to be flexible and have realistic expectations. Especially when you’r remodeling an older home, expect the unexpected. At the same time, be sure to choose a construction company equipped and experienced with handling unexpected discoveries.
